  • I know I've been away far too long...LOL

I have to admit I've been dithering about what to do and get done these days, and I've been trying on purpose to change some bad habits along the way.  More on that later.

I had a wonderful Fourth of July, since my son and his pyrotechnical crew had all the fireworks go up this year at the municipal firework show (ok, there were two duds, but nothing exploded wrong is the point)!  Yaaayyy!  I know that I am always enthused about fireworks, but this year's show was really GREAT!  They had some spectacular stuff to blow off, and I admit I had fun talking to my brother's guest about the show and during it.  Bud came in with brother Rick from Ohio, and since Rick got to work on the crew again this year with Ben, I visited with Bud while Rick was busy.  There are other relatives who work on the crew (yeah, we breed 'em, lol!), so Bud was enjoying how wacky things can get with a picnic that feeds folks in shifts, as well as snagging previews of the show with the crew before getting to see it.

Along with Rick and Bud coming in from Ohio, my stepfather was also in from Montana.  He's the father of my two brothers, and I haven't seen him in at least 12 years.  My sons had never met him before, so I was glad that they both showed up for the fourth's festivities with enogh time to at least introduce themselves to him.  He got to meet my daughters-in-law as well as Josh's puppy Romeo, too.  It was nice to see how he's doing since his wife of 23 years had died only 3 years ago.  They were always in love, so I felt sad for his loss.  It was a great time for family ties to be strengthened.

I have been busy going to my birthmother's senior residence twice a week as well, since last month.  I am now their Bingo caller.  The people there have been very warm in thanking me for doing it, and we're having fun learning how to "play" with each other.  I sometimes mess up on purpose just so they can tease me, but more often I do just mess up here and there (like saying I-32, when it's really N-32).  What's great about that is that it gets me out of my apartment and it has me feeling a bit more needed/wanted at least.  I like how my birthmother and I might have more outings as a result, too.

This job search has had me bummed off and on, and the ordeal of living on a budget that is so tight it squeaks really frustrates me more than I like to admit.  With all the car repairs I have had to address just so I can go to a job interview or even keep a job has had me praying with more desperation than I like, too.  I had to decline a chance to visit with friends for coffee last week, and the friend who arranges our gathers generously offered to give me a gift of some money to put gas in the car and for me to have something at the Baker's Square.  It was so very thoughtful, and I not only got to see another friend I haven't seen in over five years, but the drive out and back were soothing for my tired soul.  I really love a nice drive on a cooling summer night!  (Thank you SO much, Bob!)

I have a very attention getting resume, and I have had many compliments on its layout and design.  So, the only thing I can think of is that I am not getting calls because I have been out of work for almost a year now.  That's a problem, since I can't change that unless someone gives me a call.  When that begins to tie me into a knot, I remind myself - sometimes firmly - that God is the one who brings us the gift of a job, not trends or personnel directors with any kind of agenda.  It really does help.

I need to get out more than I do for some walks here and there, so I won't promise to be more available than I am right now; but I will try.  I've been backing up stuff from my computer just in case, since a couple of times I have had some system problems and I realize just how much I don't have saved anywhere else!  I like making the CD's of things and of getting things organized before I do the saves.  Right now it's my recipes that I am getting cleaned up in a templet rather than the mix and match layouts that I have allowed myself to save them in a hurry.

I am also allowing myself to catch up on an old friend: Dr. Who.  My ex and I used to watch it faithfully every Sunday night at 11:00 pm on the local PBS station through the 80's.  It was our date, since the kids were asleep by that hour and we could just watch it and he'd give me backrubs, and it was just our special time.  We'd talk about it as the week went by, and it was just good fun.  When the BBC began making it again in a more current format, it was brought to the states via Sci Fi (now SyFy) network, which is a premium channel in my area, so I couldn't see the shows.  A friend from Yahoo chat found all the shows on a Japanese website, so he gave me the link!  Bless you Jesse!  So, I have to watch them all now, and get caught up, lol.

So, here I am, trying to get my devotional life in a better stride, too.  I also keep my prayer work going or I'll just fall apart.  It's what I know God annointed me for, cause I do it with the least effort but I know it's where He's blessed me, too.  Let me put it this way: I can't NOT pray!  I do it all the time, but I don't always share it.  Much is happening in my life, and I am working hard to appreciate it more than whine about it.  I am on Facebook all the time, so if you want to be a friend there, just let me know.

Lord, I ask that you bless all of my Peeps in strong ways. Help them to have significant assurances of Your touch in their lives today.  Let it be in such a distinctive way that other folks might not think you were Speaking to them, but THEY know it was You giving them a peek.

I love you Lord.  I know you loved me first.  I am so very grateful that You still do!  Amen
